Therapy Closeup
How long will it take?

Each counselling session will take between 50 and 60 minutes.  Some people find that just a few sessions is enough to work through a particular issue.  For others, it may take considerably longer.  How long you commit to therapy will always been down to you.  Most people will come to therapy on a weekly basis.  Your sessions will be agreed at the initial appointment but can be adjusted according to your needs.

How much will it cost?

Each appointment costs £55.  I have a restricted number of slots at a reduced fee and a pay it forward system to try to make my service accessible to all.  All bookings are made at the regular price unless previously agreed.

Please be aware there is a 48 hour cancellation policy.  All cancellations made within 48 hours of an appointment will unfortunately be charged at the full price.  In exceptional circumstances this may be waved.

I accept payments by bank transfer, card payment and cash.

Confidentiality, privacy policy and complaints procedure

Everything you tell me will remain confidential.  The only exceptions to this are if I am legally required to share information, or if I am seriously concerned about the safety of yourself or someone else.  In both cases I would always try to discuss the situation with you first and explain the need to breach confidentiality.  There is very rarely any need to do this.

If someone else is paying for your sessions, they don't have a right to know what is discussed.  Your G.P. will not be informed except by your consent (out with an emergency).

All counsellors have a supervisor with which to discuss their practice who also abide by an ethical code of practice.  I may discuss aspects of our work together but your confidentiality will not be breached.

I keep brief session notes as required by my insurer for a period of five years.  These are stored in a triple encrypted online platform on UK servers compliant with GDPR laws.  Your information will only be used and stored in order to provide you an effective service and will never be passed on or shared without your permission.  A full privacy policy is available on request.

I am a registered member of COSCA (Counselling & Psychotherapy Scotland) which is a member of the Professional Standards Authority.  I abide by the COSCA Statement of Ethics and Code of Practice. If you have any complaint about my practice or service and haven't been able to adequately resolve it with myself, you should follow the COSCA complaints procedure found here .
